Suspect Behind Moscow Police Attack Identified

(MENAFN) Authorities have identified the deceased suspect behind a deadly assault on traffic police officers near Moscow's Savyolovsky Railway Station as a 22-year-old man originally from the Udmurt Republic, a region in western Russia.

Svetlana Petrenko, spokesperson for the Investigative Committee of Russia, confirmed Tuesday that law enforcement had successfully reconstructed the alleged attacker's movements throughout the Moscow region prior to the incident.

The attack, which unfolded at Savyolovsky Station Square, involved the detonation of an unidentified explosive device, the Russian Interior Ministry announced in the early hours of Tuesday. One traffic police officer was killed in the blast, while two others sustained injuries. The suspect died at the scene.

The nature of the device used in the attack has yet to be officially disclosed, as the investigation remains ongoing.
