Russia Says It Seized Control of New Donetsk Village

(MENAFN) Moscow claimed Wednesday it had seized yet another settlement in eastern Ukraine's embattled Donetsk region, marking a fresh territorial advance in its grinding offensive across the front lines.

Russia's Defense Ministry announced via Telegram that its forces had taken control of the village of Nykyforivka — situated roughly 24 kilometers (15 miles) to the east of the strategically significant cities of Sloviansk and Kramatorsk.

The captured village lies approximately 3 kilometers (1.8 miles) from Fedorivka Druha, a settlement Moscow also claimed to have seized just days earlier on Thursday, suggesting a pattern of incremental but deliberate territorial gains in the area.

Kyiv has yet to issue any official response to Russia's latest assertions. As with previous battlefield claims throughout the conflict, the reports remain impossible to independently verify given the active and restricted nature of the war zone.
