Zelensky Moves to Extend Ukraine's Martial Law, General Mobilization

(MENAFN) Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky announced Monday that parliament will vote to extend both martial law and general mobilization for an additional 90 days, according to the legislature's press service.

The measures, currently due to expire on May 4, would remain in force through August 2 pending parliamentary approval — a vote expected later this week, a state news agency reported.

Should lawmakers endorse the extension, it would mark the 19th consecutive renewal of martial law since its initial introduction in February 2022, following Russia's full-scale invasion — underscoring the grinding, open-ended nature of a conflict now entering its fourth year with no immediate resolution in sight.
